Bike Wall Art

This is my father's 48-year-old (as of 2020) Seika road bike. He purchased it during his first year of college. I wanted to do a large knolling project and thought that this would be a fun way to give the bike continued life as a piece of art on our wall.

Below are a few photos of the build.

Pre-teardown

First lay-out on garage floor

Frame with wire mesh to hang parts from

Many, many staples!

Gorilla-tape on the edges, so as not to tear the fabric

Guilford of Maine acoustic fabric

Laser-cut acrylic bearing holders

Many, many pieces of wire to fish through and twist tight

Recycled denim insulation (good sound absorber)

1/8" aluminum plate to hang (~60 lbs total)

Heavy-duty french cleat wall hanging system

View from a distance for scale on the wall
